last Socket 939 CPU

AnandTech: AMD Athlon 64 FX-60: A Dual-Core farewell to Socket-939
and here i was thinking that AMD would keep the socket 939 architecture for a slightly longer time. seems i was wrong. the FX-60 will be the last CPU on that format. so this would the one to aim for, maybe 1 year from now, as an upgrade...

V for Vendetta

People should not be afraid of their government, Governments should be afraid of their people
"Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (NATALIE PORTMAN) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked man (HUGO WEAVING) known only as “V.” Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he urges his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V’s mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself – and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plan to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption."

just got to know of this upcoming film after visiting a friend's blog. looks like a great story. the comic, i mean. what about the film? only time will tell... i like the film's tagline though. would be great to have a t-shirt with that tag printed on it. much more powerful than "save the white elephants"

adidas monaco

more shoes galore...this is the adidas monaco. as u can probably see, its part of the "originals" line of retro adidas gear. also visible are the goodyear logos. this is a motorsport-inspired shoe afterall.

microsoft comfort optical mouse 3000

just got this mouse, the Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000. first impressions are mixed, perhaps because I'm naturally inclined to compare it to the mouse which I'm using on a regular basis, the logitech MX1000, bought for use at work.

a follow up to the post on world usability day, this is an important area to look at, as many products nowadays get more and more complex to use.

Honda Zoomer magazine in the UK

ZOOMERZINE - The Zoomer Magazine
this is a follow up to the post on the Honda Zoomer, a back to basics scooter with barebones design, auto transmission & a simple 50cc 4 stroke engine. This is a UK Zoomer webzine. Plenty of cool customisation ideas. Wonder how will I look, with office wear on this wacky bike?

new MP3 Players with >6GB

SanDisk | Products | MP3 Players | SanDisk Sansa™ e200 Series MP3 Players
just when i'm almost resigned to buying the iriver h10, comes news that its going to be replaced by the u10 series in similar capacities. then this player from sandisk crops up. sandisk are not big players in the market, but this is a 6GB flash player...cool.

FM timer recording

Pogo Products - Radio Your Way LX
here i am struggling to find a DAP that fits my needs, then comes a curve ball. this radio-centric player can schedule FM [and other] recordings, with a calendar function more advance than the usual iriver or iaudio players. a pity that it seems to be available only via online purchase...

Directing The Shield

VOLUME 27-2: July 2002
just caught the first episode of what seems to be season 4 of "the shield", shown on arts central. found the camera work very distracting, even more than NYPD. some scenes also clearly look like they were shot using different cameras, though that is not mentioned in this DGA article on the shield.

just bought an astreal cd from earshot, its their projektion EP. 3 cool tracks...

missing ai sio kan mai

the boredphucks are back in singapore. now known as the suns, they performed for about an hour at the orchard cineleisure countdown band performance. but some of their more "racy" songs were not played. however, the overall performance was quite good. bassist JBoss almost ended the show before it started by taking out drummer Wayne Thunder. wayne was setting up the drum kit when jboss swung his bass around and hit him in the eye. the poor MC had to placate the crowd with all kinds of tricks [kudos to him] before wayne could recover. but when they started, the whole place rocked. San Singer, the singer/lead guitarist was "in your face" as usual, but seemed to miss some high notes. but it was clear that the band's playing was slick and professional. they whipped up the crowd, and soon, everyone was jumping together, putting arms around each other. familiar tunes prompted the crowd to join in the singing, and it was great that the fun did not get dampened by security stepping in, which sometimes occurs at such gigs. all in all, a 7.5 out of 10.

panasonic vs2, recently bought for S$0 for recontracting with singtel. it'll be used by my younger brother

new year's eve, foreign workers, and spray cans

was at orchard cineleisure to watch the suns [aka boredphucks] homecoming performance. more on that performance perhaps later, but i was very shocked at the "spraying" scenes that i saw. many people armed with foam sprays were "attacking" passerbys, mostly at females passerbys. what made it worse, was that it seems some were doing it as a group. worst of all, it seemed to be groups of local men vs groups of male foreigners. these foreigners were mostly indian or bangladeshi. to me, the incidents took on a racial undertone. trolled through the 3 local newspapers online [st, today, and new paper], but did not see any article on this issue, so i thought i should do my part...
