Google Docs help - Uploading any file
Originally, only office-type documents could be saved in Google Doc (e.g. doc, xls, ppt, pdf). Some resorted to saving other files (e.g. jpg, gif, exe) in Gmail, or used other tools like Evernote (which had its own set of file restrictions).
Hopefully, the next step will be auto-sync. Files located in a designated folder on a computer will have copies of them synced online. This would enable the most updated version of a file to be easily available wherever there is internet access.
